Macron chastises Trump's Gaza Strip 'real estate operation'

French President Emmanuel Macron has condemned President Trump's proposals against the Gaza Strip and the Palestinians who live there, claiming that his “real estate operations” are not the right answer for the war-torn enclaves and regions.

“You can't tell 2 million people,” OK, what do you guess now? You move,” Macron said. His interview with CNNIt was released on Tuesday.

“The correct answer is not the real estate business. It's a political operation,” the French president said.

Since last week, Trump has been debating the idea that the US will take control of Gaza and rebuild it while Palestinians will leave the region for some time. He doubled the proposal Tuesday morning and said the US military would not be involved despite objections from Arab leaders and some GOP lawmakers at Capitol Hill.

Trump in a meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II on Tuesday claimed that Palestinians did not want to live in Gaza. The King of Jordan told Trump that Arab countries and Egypt are expected to submit proposals on the issue. He also said that Jordan would bring in 2,000 sick Palestinian children.

Macron previously criticised Israeli military operations in Gaza, but following the attack on Hamas on October 7, 2023, he has expressed the right to protect itself, the Jewish state has the right to protect itself. .

The French president said last October that France would suspend delivery of weapons to Israel in use in Gaza.

“I've always repeated my own differences [Israeli] Prime Minister Netanyahu,” Macron said in an interview that CNN was recorded before the artificial intelligence litigation summit in Paris last Thursday.

“I don't once again believe that such a large-scale operation is the correct answer for civilians from time to time,” he added.

Following the talks with Trump, Abdullah said in a statement that Jordan and the Arab countries are strongly opposed to Trump's idea of moving Palestinians outside Gaza.

“I have repeated Jordan's unwavering stance on the movement of Palestinians on Gaza and the banks of the Jordan River, a unified Arab position,” writes Abdullah. “Rebuilding Gaza without stoking the Palestinians and dealing with the dire humanitarian situation should be a priority for everyone.”

Abdullah praised the commander as “people of peace,” and said Trump “helps to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.” We look to us and all our stakeholders to ensure that it is retained. ”
