House Dem expects first DOGE subcommittee meeting to be ‘full-on combat’

Sparks are expected to fly to the First Bureau Government Efficiency (DOGE) subcommittee meeting on Wednesday, according to one Democrat in the House of Representatives.

Democrats have denounced billionaire Elon Musk. President Donald Trump tapped to lead the duds as he tried to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in federal spending and cut the federal workforce of more than 2 million people.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, I told Axios Why Doge's actions are “illegal” and “there is no official role for Elon Musk to do this” in order to use the hearing to “make clarity for the American people.”

“I think it's going to be SH – the show. I don't expect anything productive from now on,” Crockett said. “I don't think it's going to be a good thing. I expect a full battle, because Doge is clearly a demon right now.”

Doge Subcommittee Chairman Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga, said he has “high hopes” for Republicans and Democrats to be productively involved during the hearing.

“We're talking about solutions. There's a huge savings,” she said, adding that she feels the problem is bipartisan.

Musk appeared with Trump in his oval office on Tuesday as the president prepared to sign an executive order on Doge, who leads the billionaire job.

Musk told reporters in some of his first public comments about Leading Doge that while federal officials have good people, they need to be accountable and deal with the fiscal deficit.

He also fought back against critics who accused him of making hostile takeovers of the government, saying he wanted to add “common-sense control” to federal spending, and cut government waste. said he was not a “Draconian.”

“People voted for a massive government reform, and that's what people are trying to get,” Musk said. “That's what democracy is all about.”
