RFK secures support from key Republican ahead of confirmation

Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska announcement Her support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s appointment to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

Murkowski's support came the moment the Senate voted Wednesday Progress Kennedy's nomination tees him later this week for a confirmation vote. Kennedy was the focus of two intense hearings in late January, but more and more Republicans are showing support for the candidate, perhaps securing his confirmation.

“There's a lot of shared work ahead to achieve better public health outcomes. I'm urging Kennedy to realize these goals.”

“I will help Robert Kennedy Jr. confirm as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services,” Markowski said. “There is no controversy that the US spends more per capita on healthcare than any other country, but our health outcomes do not reflect this investment.”

“Instead of focusing on who covers our exorbitant healthcare costs, we need to reduce these costs by focusing on prevention and keeping people healthy,” adds Murkowski. I did. “This is the appeal of RFK, and many Alaskans share their views with me. Chronic disease is a critical illness and a major factor in public debt, and he recognizes this, I promise to tackle that.”

Murkowski pointed out many things she and Kennedy agreed in her statement, but she also mentioned certain areas of disagreement. Murkowski, in particular, has reserved some of President Donald Trump's cabinet candidates and voted to even block Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses along with Republican Rep. Mitch McConnell from Kentucky and Susan Collins from Maine. I did.

“I continue to be concerned about Kennedy's views on the vaccine and the selective interpretation of the scientific research that first sparked my anxiety about his appointment,” Murkowski said. “Vaccinations have saved millions of lives. As a secretary to HHS, I would not do anything to make it difficult for people to take the vaccine or block vaccination efforts. I've guaranteed it.”

Despite her hesitation, Murkovsky said that many Kennedy's commitments ultimately rocked her to vote in favor of his confirmation.

“He has made many commitments to me and my colleagues. He has worked with Congress to ensure public access to information and is based on data-driven, evidence-based, medically sound research. It's based on vaccine recommendations,” Murkowski said. “These commitments are important to me, and I balance it and provide a guarantee of my vote.”

“There is a lot of shared work going forward to achieving better public health outcomes, and I will encourage Kennedy to realize these goals,” Murkowski added.
