Cooper Dejan and Caitlin Clark have an Iowa connection, but that doesn't mean they will align their NFL loyalty.
Playing for Iowa during Clark's era, Dejan was one of the Eagles' Super Bowl 2025 heroes with Patrick Mahomes in the second quarter to seal his victory in New Orleans.
Meanwhile, Clark is a Chiefs fan and sat with Taylor Swift in the suite at Arrowhead Stadium for the AFC division round.
But even though they were on the other side on Sunday, that doesn't mean the former Hawkeyes couldn't argue about the game.
Dejan's Clark revealed on Wednesday on “Up and Adams with Kay Adams” that the Indiana Fever star celebrated Philadelphia's big day.
“She sent me a lovely message to congratulate me,” Dejan said during the program. “It was good that she's a Chiefs fan and it was everything.”
Sunday was a big day for Dejean, who not only scored his first touchdown in his first pro-interception, but also celebrated his 22nd birthday.
It was a special moment for the defensive Buck and his parents who were in the game at Caesars Superdome.
“I've never seen my dad get excited about the play I made,” Dejan told Adams. “It was pretty emotional and I'm happy they experienced it with me.”
Dejan said he and his father Jason had emotional moments on the field they hugged after the match.
The cornerback said his father was mostly in tears, particularly lifting the fact that Dejean slid into the second round during the 2024 draft.
Now he is the Super Bowl champion in just one year in his professional career.
“When I gave him a huge giant he almost started crying,” recalls Dejan. “He actually raised draft day. He said, 'Think about how disappointed you were on draft day, and now you're here.”
