Sen. Mitch McConnell, 83, said “he's not mentally equipped,” President Donald Trump told reporters Thursday, emphasizing that the senator would “put the Republicans to hell.”
McConnell voted for a Democratic colleague on Thursday for RFK's appointment as secretary to the Department of Health and Human Services.
He also voted on Wednesday to confirm Tarsi Gabbard as head of the National Intelligence Election, and previously voted against the confirmation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegses in January.
“He's not voting against Bobby,” Trump said of McConnell's vote for RFK. “He's voting against me.”
“If I didn't come with you, there wouldn't be a Republican party now,” Trump said of McConnell. “He's not mentally equipped. In my opinion, he wasn't mentally equipped ten years ago. He sent the Republicans to hell.”
McConnell, chairman of the Senate Budget Defense Subcommittee, is the longest Senate leader in American history. He resigned in January.
“He had the ability to raise money for a leadership position that anyone could do,” Trump told CNN's Kaitlan Collins.
“You could do that too,” Trump told Collins. [to]Say a lot. ”
Under McConnell's Senate leadership, national debt rose more than $35 trillion, illegal immigration spikes, and true wages for American workers did not grow. Obamacare was established in 2010. Congress bailed out major banks in 2008, and social media companies silenced individuals without any impact. McConnell is also affiliated with the Chinese government.
McConnell has had health issues for years. He went down the stairs outside his Senate room in February. There they watched reporters regain his footing and place him in a wheelchair.
Waterfalls were not the most concern. McConnell froze twice while talking to reporters. This moment raised questions about McConnell's ability to remain a Republican leader.
