Canadian hockey fans boo Team USA players, national anthem at 4 Nations tournament in Montreal

The four-country showdown begins this week in Montreal, with Team USA as the official enemy. 1 To the north.

Team USA played their first match of the tournament against Finland on Thursday. The day after Canada defeated Sweden in overtime, they were crossing the enemy line to start the tournament.

When the team snatched the ice, the team was booed violently by the crowd and continued to cheer for Finland all night.

Fans booed the performance of “Star Spangled Banner” despite asking fans to respect the national anthem.

Canada and USA Hockey rivalries have been around for many years, but hostility from Canadian sports fans has been saying that President Donald Trump issuing tariffs on the country and that Canada could become the “51st state.” I've grown ever since saying that.

It's not the first time that Canadian sports fans have booed the US national anthem as tariffs are set to begin. Fans of the Raptors and Senators did that earlier this month.

Vancouver Canucks announcer John Shorthouse joked that the penalty would be two and a half minutes due to the 25% tariff.

However, the booing didn't work for long. Finland began scoring, but Team USA scored six unanswered goals in a 6-1 victory. Brady and Matthew Tokachuk each scored twice.

President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke on the phone last week, with an additional 25% tariff coming into effect on Canadian goods coming to the United States. In a post on X, Trudeau said Canada will implement a $1.3 billion border plan and appoint Emperor Fentanyl.

Trump is long Canada and Mexico said they have failed sufficiently to prevent the flow of illegal immigration and drugs, particularly fentanyl, from those countries into the United States.

Trump has committed to impose a 25% tariff on all goods in Canada and Mexico, a 10% tariff on Canadian energy and a 10% tariff on all goods entering the US from China. Ta. Tariffs on China were scheduled to come into effect in the middle of the night Tuesday.

Countries will play each other once before facing off on next Saturday for the one-game final.
