In the first phase of the ceasefire, 24 hostages and more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners have been released so far. The first phase includes Hamas' release of 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
If agreement is not reached in a more complicated second phase, the war could resume, and Hamas is calling for the release of all remaining hostages and an indefinite extension of the ceasefire.
