“Captain America: Brave New World” star Anthony Mackie said his race hasn't stopped him from winning or pursuing major roles in Hollywood.
Mackey I spoke to the deadlinethe next fourth in the Captain America film franchise about taking over the classic role played by former actor Chris Evans in an interview released Tuesday.
Mackie said when he first joined Marvel's universe in 2014, playing the character Sam Wilson, he never imagined he would play Captain America one day.
“I've never seen Marvel's universe without Chris Evans. Chris Evans was the face like Robert Downey Jr. was Marvel's face. Grown up to become Captain America. ” he said.

When Deadline asked if it was because he was black, Mackie replied.
He continued: “I have never had any problems being limited due to my skin tone, and if I encounter someone who limits me to my skin tone, I would say that. I've separated people from my career.”
The actor continued to explain how he was able to persuade director Kathryn Bigelow to take on a bigger role in the 2008 Oscar-winning war film The Hurt Locker.
His character was originally written for a white actor, but Mackey claims that “war is not racial” and the film is about “Brotherhood, in contrast to race.” He claimed, saying he persuaded Bigelow to cast him into the role.

“But throughout my career, there have been roles written for white actors that I can do afterwards because directors are open-minded about the idea that they see someone else in the role,” he continued. Ta.
Mackie said he wants roles based on their quality, not their character race.
“That's how I want my role. I want to play a great role, not because they're black, but because they're great roles, I want to play a great role,” he said in an interview.
The “Captain America” star stoked controversy last month when he said his character shouldn't represent America.
“Captain America represents a lot of different things, and I don't think the term “America” should be one of those expressions. It is about someone who keeps his words and has honor, dignity and integrity. “He said while promoting the film in Rome, Italy on January 27th.

After the comments went viral, Mackie revealed what he said.
“Let's be clear about this. I'm a proud American and it's a lifelong honor to take on a hero's shield like Cap,” Mackie wrote in a comment shared on his Instagram account.
