Middle-Aged British Couple Detained in Iran During Motorcycle Trip

(AFP) – The British government on Saturday detained two Brits in Iran as Craig and Lindsay's foreman.

The two are currently being held in Carman, a city and state in southeastern Iran, the family said in a statement issued by the UK Foreign Office.

“This unexpected event has raised great concern for the whole family and we are deeply focused on ensuring their safety and well-being during this ordeal,” they said.

The family added that it “aligned in our resolve to ensure their safe interests.”

“We are truly grateful for the pouring of support from our friends, family and the community, which has provided strength and encouragement when we are facing this challenge,” the statement said. Masu.

The BBC reported that the couple was in their early 50s and were on motorcycle trips around the world when they were taken into custody in January.

According to a social media post, the duo traveled from Armenia to Iran in December, gradually heading towards Australia.

The UK's Foreign Ministry on Friday confirmed that it was “providing consul assistance to two British citizens detained in Iran.”

It came after Iran's official communications agency IRNA reported on Wednesday that two nationals in central Karman were being held in central Karman province for unspecified security violations.

The IRNA said UK Ambassador Hugo Shorter “meeted two security suspects” at the Carman Prosecutor's Office.

The UK government advises on all trips to Iran.

Dual citizens of the UK, UK and Iran say there is a great risk of arrest, interrogation or detention.

Several other Europeans have been detained in Iran and have recently swapped multiple prisoners with the Western government.

In an Instagram post, Lindsay Foreman admitted that trips to Iran are “a little scary” and do so “despite the advice” of friends, family and the UK Foreign Office.

“Yes, we are aware of the risks. But we also know the reward of meeting incredible people, listening to them and seeing the breathtaking scenery of these areas. “I'm doing that,” she wrote.
