The feelings between Matthew Tokachuk and Brandon Hagel appear to have become mutual.
Shortly after the pack drop in a showdown match between the four countries of the US and Canada on Saturday, Tkachuk and Hagel threw gloves on the ground and alienated each other.
Their fight was the first of three in the 9-second opening of the match.
During the first break, Brady, brother of Hagel and Matthew and teammate of Team USA, shared his reaction to the opening fight.
Brady clashes with Sam Bennett of the Florida Panthers Center and follows his brother into the fight.
“I think [Matthew’s fight] It happened quite organically.” Brady told ESPN After the first break. “Matthew said he wanted to go first, it just happened and now it was over.”
“It was exactly what Matthew found the starting lineup, he said he wanted a part of him. [Hagel]. ”
Hagel also opened up about his feelings about the opening fight and explained that Matthew had sought a fight.
“I think it's black.” Hagel told SportsNet During the first break. “He asked, trying to get energy from the building. I'm not retreating from him.”
“I think he and I have a pretty good history of going back and forth throughout the season,” adds Hagel. “I thought he was going to ask me if we started together.
Brady later mentioned the importance of focusing on the rest of the game following the fight.
“It's clearly an adrenaline rush,” Brady said. “But you need to bring it to each shift now. It's all about doing whatever it takes to win.”
“It's a different game now. You need to block all the noise.”
