Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) said Wednesday that President Donald Trump was “wrong” because he was “standing on his side” of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Ukraine conflict.
Bacon said: He made a bad turn. I think what he said is wrong. And that's a shame. Many Republicans know what the president said today. Putin began this invasion. He is a dictator. He killed all his enemies. Zelensky was justly elected. He is under martial law. And they have the ability to postpone elections under martial law under constitutional law. Ukraine is a victim. And I ask that our President stand on the side of freedom, not on the side of invaders, but on the side of democracy and on the side of victims, and stick to the right. And this Republican didn't agree with what the president said, so I wanted to be very strong in my words today.
Host Brianna Keilar said: What did he say? ”
Bacon said, “I think he handled it skillfully. You have to push it back. He is the victim. Putin is an invader. Putin is a bombing of Putin's city. Russians say they are They have wiped out the towns they took over, and they assassinated or killed prisoners. They were raped and plundered. Russia is on the bad side here. And moral clarity regarding this war We need a president who has it. But now, today I was hoping that the president would rise and get better than Joe Biden.
He added: He used rules of involvement that restricted Ukraine. It was really feeding the Gridlock. I was hoping that this president would step up and end this war the right way. And what we see today is not a noble course of action. We stand on the side of dictators, not democracy. ”
