Trans runner Nathanielle Morin who defeated 12-year-old girl defends biological men in women’s sports

Nathaniel Morin, Canadian advisor to the federal women's minister, issued a statement this week defending her advisor's participation in women's marathons and other running competitions as transgender biological men.

Morin introduced President Donald Trump's recent executive order to prevent trans athletes from competing in women's and women's sports in a statement.

“I know that because of my medical history, so many competitions are talked about,” Morin writes. “The situation in the US and comments from certain politicians don't help either.”

“I am justified in honor of the level I competed (amateur recreation), the state of scientific research in the field (because of the amateur recreation level), and the fact that I have been undergoing a medical transition. I think so, unless the law prohibits me from doing so, please join the appropriate category.”

“Remember, in Canada, there are no laws that prohibit it. As for other countries, I will comply with local laws that are in effect when it is applied.”

Morin added that additional medical research will be considered to consider whether advisors will continue to compete with women.

On Tuesday, Morin made a post to X, which further addressed her advisor status as a trans runner.

“Trans people want to be fully integrated and happy in our society as genuine selves,” Morin writes.

Morin competed most notably on the 5K Bougebouge Run on February 4, 2024.

So Morin came in first place in the 25:32 hour, winning the “Fastest Woman” title in all age categories.

The runner-up to Morin was a girl in the 10-12-year-old category who ran at 26:08 and would have been number one if Morin hadn't competed.

If Morin had competed in the male category, the transgender runner would have ranked 10th among all male participants.

As of June 2017, all locations within Canada must comply with the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Anti-Discrimination Act, which prohibits discrimination against expressions of gender identity or gender identity .

The law protects the inclusion of all trans athletes in women and girls' sports.

Trump's recent executive order in the US says publicly funded agencies that allow trans athletes to compete in women's and women's sports will lose federal funds.

Trump has also repeatedly suggested that Canada will join the United States as the 51st state.
