Multiple reports show that additional meetings will occur at the White House on Thursday on the future of professional golf.
Adam Schupak from Golfweek It should be noted that PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan jumped into Washington, DC to meet with President Donald Trump and other White House officials. Two directors from Tiger Woods and Adam Scott and the Player Advisory Council will be taking part. Mark Schrabach from ESPN.
Monaghan and Scott initially met with the president and discussed with LIV Golf on February 4th about the future of the PGA Tour. The commissioner called it a “productive” argument, adding that “everything is moving forward at a pace.”
Discussions surrounding the contract between the PGA Tour and Liv Golf beneficiary Saudi PIF have been dragging on for almost two years. Both parties signed a “Framework Agreement” on June 6, 2023. However, the professional game remains a fractured, with two circuits operating simultaneously without crossovers. The PGA Tour and LIV Golf Players compete side-by-side only a handful of four majors and DP World Tour events.
“I think things will heal soon,” Woods said while sitting on the final round of Genesis Invitational broadcast.
“We're going this game in the right direction. It's been heading the wrong way for years and fans want us all to play together – all the top players play together We're doing that — and we'll make it happen.”
Woods added that the deal could happen “quickly.”
