Physical therapist explains why Knicks can rest easy about Josh Hart’s injury

I'm looking at Josh Hart's knee, but I shouldn't fire an alarm.

That could be much worse. The Knicks spark plug sits on Thursday. The Knicks host the Bulls and what the team is talking about is Patelofmoral pain syndrome, which may sound more serious in general.

According to a physical therapist who reached by phone on Thursday, patellar pain syndrome is pain in the front or around the kneecap, particularly in common with athletes who run or jump in sports.

“I don't think I'll derail anyone's season,” said Charles Homoky, who uses Rusk Rehabilitation at Nyu Langone Health, about the syndrome, often referred to as the “runner's knee.”

Homokey doesn't look at heart. Hart first revealed his injuries ahead of the January 25th match against the Kings. Starting with that game, Heart is featured in what is called “right knee pain” and injuries report. Hart had been in pain for almost a month before he was given a public diagnosis, but now he's sacrificing the game to him.

Hart, who takes pride in flying around the floor, played second in the NBA in minutes on Thursday, chasing only his teammate Mikal Bridges. Before Thursday, Hart had missed only one game throughout the season, for personal reasons.

Overuse is the “most common cause” of this condition, according to Homoky, but other factors may be considered, including muscle imbalances, weaknesses, and mechanical or flexibility issues.

The cause of this condition is determined by heart treatment, ranging from physical therapy to ice, electrical stimulation and stretching.

Usually, according to Homoky, athletes say, “I'll take a short break and then come back.” There are rarely many complications that lead to a greater amount of time on the surgeries and bystanders.

Assuming a relatively quick return to court for Hart, his workload is worth watching. Coach Tom Thibodeau, who has a reputation for scoffing “minimum police” and working hard on the best players, will he adjust Hart's minutes?

With more than six weeks left in the regular season, the Knicks played third in the East, 2½ game for the Celtics and 5½ game before the Pacers.

Due to many hopes of recharging the rankings, the Knicks probably need plenty from all wings, averaged 14.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game.
