Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent a fiery message to the United States on Thursday night.

The game took place amid a political struggle between Trudeau and President Donald Trump, as US world leaders teased Canadian lawmakers about becoming “the 51st state.” Trump openly calls Trudeau the “governor” of Canada. It continued on Thursday before the game.

“You can't take our country – and you can't take our game,” he posted to X.

Politics infiltrated hockey earlier this month as NHL and NBA fans booed “Star Spangold Banner” when Trump announced tariffs on Canada.

The booing followed a four-country showdown, culminating in one round of Fischuff during the first match between the US and Canada. Three fights took place in just nine seconds after Canadian fans booed the Montreal national anthem.

The US was able to bring out victory in that game.

Canadian fans were owned when TD Garden boo sang “O, Canada.” American fans followed up with their own songs from the national anthem.
