Three people arrested on suspicion of murder decades after UK man vanished | UK news

More than 20 years after his disappearance in northeast England, three people were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Robert Scott Clive, 30, originally from Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, lived in North Shields when he disappeared on October 10, 2002.

The disappearance of Clive, known as Scott, urged police to begin a murder investigation, but his body was not found.

Northumbria police said on Saturday that “new information” was led by two men in their 40s and 50s, as well as a woman in her 40s in police custody.

The address in the Coronation Street area of ​​North Shields is being searched for being known to have visited the night Clive went missing, the unit said. Current residents who moved after 2002 were placed in alternative accommodation while police enquiries.

Clive saw him last alive in the Coronation Street area just after 11pm. The man who met Clive's explanation was last seen early the next morning, near the banks of the Tyne River.

Det Insp Mark Atherton said:

“When we received the new information, we made the decision to arrest two men and one woman in connection with Scott's lost beer. While our enquiries were underway, they remains in custody, but we still believe there may be important information people know in their communities.

“I'm urging anyone who lived on Coronation Street at the time of his loss disappearance, or who has information about Scott's movement that night, to move forward. You have Information can prove the key to our investigation.”

Police said they have reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and spoke to witnesses since they began their investigation more than 20 years ago.
