Israel will delay the seventh hostage prison exchange in protest of the “humiliation” treatment of hostages, Israeli officials said.
The release of 620 Palestinian prisoners scheduled for Saturday was postponed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. On Sunday morning, Netanyahu's office issued a statement denounced Hamas propaganda generated during the exchange.
“In light of Hamas' repeated violations, including the ironic exploitation of hostages for rituals and propaganda purposes, it has been decided that the release of the next hostage will delay the release of the terrorists planned yesterday. It was stated, without guaranteed and humiliating rituals.
The statement came after reports that Hamas fighters had exploited Israeli prisoners while they were released. On Saturday, five of the six released hostages were accompanied by armed extremists in front of a crowd, including three Israeli hostages who had posed alongside the terrorists.
