Woman who suffered heart attack on subway died after police forced to chase down Bronx train: sources

A woman suffering a heart attack on a Bronx subway train Saturday morning died after her first responder was forced to chase northbound trains for several stops, police and information The source said.

According to the NYPD, 46-year-old Strafunger sat in his unconscious seat on five trains at East 180th Avenue station near Morris Park Avenue around 11:56 a.m.

Police said they responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls after passengers notifying them of the surprising incident.

Sources said the woman suffered a cardiac arrest at Simpson Street Station, leading her first responder towards it, discovering that the train continued to carry important passengers. Medic finally arrives at the women at East 180th Avenue Station, four stops.

The unidentified woman was taken to Montefiory Hospital in the Bronx, where she was declared dead, police said.

The city's medical inspector's office will formally determine her cause of death.
