Aston Martin announced the AMR25, the challenger for the 2025 Formula 1 season, ahead of the pre-season Test.
After the team debuted their colouring for the 2025 season at the F1 season launch event held in O2 in London last week, Aston Martin shared images of the AMR25 on the team's digital platform on Sunday. Aston Martin heads to the Bahrain International Circuit for a filming session ahead of the preseason test, which begins Wednesday.
According to the teamthe AMR25 is the “evolution” of its predecessor, with major changes in the front wing, side pods, engine covers, floors and rear wings. As Aston Martin said, the AMR25 front wing was “a key evolution of the front wing that the team introduced late last year. The changes were due to improved slow downforce, balancing the car, and all stages of cornering. It focuses on making the driver more stable.”

Regarding the side pods, the team said “the most impressive visual change compared to its predecessor. It is deeply undercut, so it is followed by the length of the top surface to guide airflow. It has a dive channel.

Andy Cowell, the new team principal, who is also the CEO of the team, told the AMR25 that Aston Martin's focus was “making a more driving vehicle.” “We look forward to starting this season and seeing the AMR25 hit the track tomorrow in Bahrain,” Cowell said. “This is the culmination of incredible hard work and dedication on the AMR Technology campus. We are all inspired by Aston Martin's DNA and pursue exceptional excellence both on and off the track.
“In this year's car, I really took part in last season's lessons and feedback. We're focusing on creating a more driveable car for Lance and Fernando, and for a lifetime to make it more benign. We pushed hard. We can see that it's not easy as we expect from Australia's acquisition to become a tight and competitive field. Our aim is to be realistic in consideration of ways that can be continuously improved in all areas. It's a target. In particular, as with all teams, we approach key reforms to regulations in 2026.”
Two drivers tasked with running the AMR25 this season have seen the car actually work.
“We learned a lot in 2024 and the team used it as a driving force when heading towards this season with the AMR25,” Fernando Alonso said. “With current regulations last year, competition will be very close, but the team is working hard and making sure they are ready at AMRTC. I'm excited to get back on track. I'm not too excited to get it on track. We are ready to help this team become stronger and continue this journey with Aston Martin Aramco.”
“Everyone at AMRTC has done a lot of work over the winter to improve in 2025. As a team, we all want to perform and we will continue to learn this year,” Lance Stroll said. I did. “What we're building here is a very exciting project with great tools and talented people, and 2025 is a key year for us to advance. We'll see the upcoming season. I was looking forward to it, starting with preseason testing in Bahrain and coming back to the cockpit.”
What will help those advances too? Adrian Newey arrives, joining the team at the beginning of March.
