Former Viking punter Chris Cruwe will reluctantly consider running for political position after his viral anti-magazine speech at a California City Council meeting was drummed.
43-year-old Kluwe has opened Interview with TMZabout the explosive incident in which he saw him dragged out and arrested, and why he was forced to enter politics.
“Personally, I don't want to run for public office because I don't want power,” Kluwe told TMZ. “That's not what I want. I want everyone to live their own lives, and I want others to live their own lives freely without hurting them. I'm sorry. But we are in a position that appears to have to run for public office.”
After spending eight seasons in the NFL between 2005 and 12, Kruwe added that he dislikes the idea because he “sits at home and plays video games.”
He called public office “an exhausting, tough job.”
“That means you care about everyone,” he added. “You have to worry about their problems and you have to find a way to try and solve those problems.”
Kluwe revealed to TMZ that he has already been contacted by members of the Democrats.
“We'll see what happens there,” Kruwe said. “They're probably going to try to make a pitch, but my firm belief is that what our current Democrats are doing isn't working, and when the old guard leaves. It's time for a new face to take over.”
