The Vatican said Tuesday.
The 88-year-old Pope was admitted to Gemeri Hospital in Rome on February 14th, with serious respiratory illnesses causing other health problems.
“The Pope rested well all night,” the Vatican said in a short statement.
On Monday, the Vatican said the Pope's status remains significant, but still showed “slight improvements.”
It added that “mild kidney failure” first reported over the weekend is not a cause of concern.
Double pneumonia is a serious infection that can inflam and scar both lungs, making it difficult to breathe.
The Vatican described the Pope's infection as “complex,” saying it was caused by two or more microorganisms.
Francis, who has been the Pope since 2013, has suffered from illness health for the past two years.
He developed into the pleura as a young adult and removed a part of one lung, making him particularly susceptible to pulmonary infections.
