The Mexican citizen, accused of raping a young girl in Westchester County 20 years ago, was finally drawn back to the Imperial State last week before fleeing to his home country.
Garo Herrera, 52, was greeted by Mexican authorities and returned to the United States. He was arrested in Westchester County Court for multiple sex offences involving a child under the age of 13 at the time of the crime. According to the Westchester District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said the shikko forced rape a young man between December 2006 and January 2007 and took off after being first charged in 2008.
“Justice has no expiration date,” District Attorney Susan Kakaath said in a statement.
“The aggravated conduct of the defendant is not shocking nearly 20 years later, as alleged in the indictment. We would like to thank Mexican law enforcement partners and the US for taking Mr. Herrera to answer these charges. It's there.”
Cacace, who led the county's Sexual Offences Court for 14 years before being elected the area's top prosecutor in November, praised the multijudicial efforts.

The devil was booked at Westchester County Jail on Saturday after the extradition, jail records show.
It remains unclear when he was arrested in Mexico.
Herara is charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault on a child, first-degree rape, and three counts that endanger the welfare of the child.
He pleaded not guilty to his charges, prosecutors said.
The alleged rapist will be taken into custody awaiting further lawsuit.
