Trump’s First Cabinet Meeting Begins with Prayer

President Donald Trump's first official White House Cabinet meeting began with prayer after making brief remarks about the cabinet's performance and the mineral trade that the United States agreed to with Ukraine.

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner led Trump and the entire Cabinet to prayer, thanking God for “anointing us to do this job.”

“We pray that you will give us the wisdom of the President, the Vice President, God the Father. Father, I pray here around the table and for all my colleagues in this room. Lord God, I pray that we will lead with righteous clarity,” he said in part.

Trump praised Turner for doing “a very good job” and referring to his prayers.

In a moment before Turner's prayer, Trump spoke a month later about the strength and success of his cabinet.

“We put together some great cabinets and we've had great success. We've been given a lot of credit for making our first month so successful. We want to make months of years,” he said. “We solve a lot of problems.”

“We're doing very well with Russia and Ukraine. President Zelensky is due to arrive on Friday. He added about the rare earth mineral trade he agreed to on Wednesday. “And we're going to sign the contract. This is a very big deal.”

Trump praised his Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

In recent weeks, Trump has used an array of cabinet members and diplomats to work to defeat the Russian-Ukraine war. Bescent met with Zelensky in Ukraine two weeks ago to discuss the mineral trade, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, envoy of Russia and Ukrainian General Keith Kellogg, met with Zelensky at a Munich security conference in Germany.

Rubio, national security adviser Mike Waltz, and Middle Eastern envoy Steve Witkov met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Saudi Arabia last week.
