Need Blanket Birthright Citizenship Because It’s Founders’ Vision, Along with ‘Separation of Church and State’

On ABC's “GMA3” aired on Wednesday, Sen. Jackie Rosen (D-NV) said, “We are a country of immigration. That's how we build our nation. That's what our founders wanted, the separation of churches and nations, … an equal branch of government.” And, “For nearly 250 years, we've come and contributed people from all over the world.”

Co-host Geo Benitez said, “Senator, you know, supporters of this executive order say that birthright citizenship will be exploited and abused. Is it time to rethink the policy revamp?”

Rosen replied, “What I can tell you [is] This: Since the 1800s, this has been in our constitution, and laws and precedents have been resolved. And we now stand by the Constitution, not allowing resources, not allowing talent, hopefully our courts will pass – following the courts. If people have other opinions, they are welcome to try and promote the law through what they want. But now the law of the land is that if you were born here, you are a citizen. And the way Donald Trump dares to take it from you. ”

Co-host Eva Pilgrim then asked: Why do you think it's so important that the US has this? ”

Rosen said, “Well, we are a country of immigration. That's how we build our nation. That's what our founders wanted, the separation of church and nation, three branches, the equivalent branch of government. In fact, Congress, we are an article from the branch of government. We pass the law. We provide funding to the government. And we swear to the Constitution, not the constitution, not the individual. This is our country. This is our country's history, and this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our country, this is our citizens, they work, we grow our country, and as with my family, we are many people here in America. We support the constitution in the US law where I was born. I urge everyone else to stand behind the constitution at this point.”

Rosen adds, “Because we are a nation of immigrants. This is in our blood. Ten years later, we have been a nation, people from all over the world come, to contribute to our nation, to contribute to our economy, to help cure cancer, to build railways, to make great progress in so many things.”
