The court held in July that as long as it remains in the European Union, it could leave the country.
Law enforcement agencies investigating the Tate brothers of the Romanian Bureau for investigation into Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) said that the special prosecutor has admitted his wish to leave the country, but they have not filed a lawsuit against them.
The two brothers were previously released from a home arrest order by Romanian authorities.
While asking questions from the media, President Donald Trump recently said he had not been informed that the Tate Brothers were flying to the United States.
At 5am, the brothers, a double American citizen, boarded a private plane and departed from Bucharest Banehasa and Aurel Vraik International Airport. The two have been banned from traveling for the past three years.
Andrew Tate currently has 10.7 million followers on X.
A controversial Muslim influencer, Andrew discusses topics such as fighting, fitness motivation, masculinity, “how to get rich quick” schemes, and feminism's “evil.” He is often accused of being misogynistic by numerous media outlets and the general public.
He announced in 2022 that he was converting to Islam following the appearance of YouTube, which calls Islam the “the planet's last true religion.”
Meanwhile, Andrew's brother Tristan Tate takes a more political approach in his X post, discussing topics such as politicians, political parties, the Ukrainian-Russian War, NATO, immigration and more. He also occasionally posts on issues related to men's mental health and psychiatry.
The plane has already landed in Florida, according to Romanian media, which cited “airport sources.”
“The request to change its obligation not to leave Romania has been approved,” the prosecutor announced Thursday.
“All other obligations are maintained, including the requirement that the judicial authorities check in every time they are called.”
The brothers are expected to return to Romania “later private” and the lawsuit against them is still pending.
Andrew, now 38, and Tristan, now 36, and two Romanian women whose names and ages have not been released were arrested in Bucharest in December 2022 on allegations that they organized rape, trafficking minors and criminal gangs to sexually exploit women. In mid-2023, all four were officially indicted.
Additionally, the court held in December that the lawsuit against Tates and the two Romanian women could not proceed to trial unless the prosecutor's charges were “amended.”
Prosecutors soon launched a second criminal investigation into Tates and four other suspects in August, announced on charges of money laundering, human trafficking and organizing criminal organizations.
Andrew and Tristan Tate rebutted all allegations made against them.
