For many years, Guenther Steiner has been one of the faces of F1.
Stars Turns on Netflix Docusary Drive to survive Haas has made the team principal a famous name, the only team principal in the history of Formula 1. Steiner's insightfulness, legendary attitude and incredible quotes made him one of the most popular players Drive to survive Because F1 has become more popular all over the world.
Haas leaned against the growing stardom of the team's principal and transformed some of these legendary quotes into items that can be purchased from the team's online store. For years, you can buy a T-shirt decorated with “phrases.”[h]E will not destroy my door to the front.
Of course, what Steiner really said after the incident at the 2019 British Grand Prix was not “Fok.”
However, now Steiner is on the other side of the pit wall and was replaced by HAAS by Ayao Komatsu prior to the 2024 Formula One season. Since leaving the role of Team Principal, Steiner has taken on the role of analyst, The same goes for the role of a race ambassador at the Miami Grand Prix. It was that second role that we saw Steiner sit with a few media members. SB Nationfor discussion on Tuesday.
However, given the flashpoints he swears in Formula 1 and all the motorsports he has been in, it was not surprising that Steiner was asked about the recent changes to the Governing Body of Sports on Crime.
“Everyone asks me that question for obvious reasons,” Steiner said with a laugh Tuesday.
“In my opinion, it could have been. It could have been dealt with at a much lower level. “You know, it's a big penalty for the amount and you can get into the sport. [penalties] Same thing. “
The former Haas boss distinguished what he was told at the press conference and what he was told at the top halfway through the race.
“Sitting with the driver, they're all grown ups, like I'm calling them. Ask them.”[H]Everyone, please get in touch at the press conference. [swear in a press conference] Or interviews, live interviews, something like that,” Steiner said. “But in race cars, I always see it this way.
“I mean, put yourself in a race car. You're over 300 [kilometers per hour] And someone will cut you off in a corner or something. What are you going to say when you're full of adrenaline? You come up with some words that are not free.
“You haven't said that.”[h]Ey, can you not do this next time? ”
“You say something and it's part of the emotion.
“So sports are also about emotions,” Steiner added. “We're not, it's not AI sports. It's not robot driving. It's human, you know, and they have feelings, they have what they say.”
Steiner is nothing, if not emotional. One of the biggest personalities of sports is always having something to say.
Guenther Steiner of Miami Grand Prix
Steiner is also here to talk to us about the Miami Grand Prix in his role as ambassador for one of his new races on the Formula One calendar. Since participating in the schedule for the 2022 season, the Miami Grand Prix has become one of the most attractive races each year, including last year, when Landororis broke through with his long-awaited first F1 Grand Prix victory. Last year's Miami Grand Prix was also one of the host venues for the All-Women's F1 Academy, with the race promoter being named Promoter of the Year at the Annual Formula 1 Promoter Awards earlier this month.
Steiner on Tuesday emphasized that preparations for this year's Miami Grand Prix, which took place over the first weekend of May, are already underway.
I was there two weeks ago last week and the job started to prepare everything,” Steiner began. “Last year was really good, so everything is ready.
“It was a good experience to be there, everything was ready again, have a great weekend and give the fans what they want. Entertainment and good races. I think it's all going to happen in a few months.”
The race promoter certainly doesn't sit still. Already, the Miami Grand Prix has announced a new ticket package for 2025 installments. This allows papaya-covered fans to sit together to celebrate Norris' maiden victory.
But most of all, the Miami Grand Prix became a race that the drivers themselves enjoyed due to the challenging layout of the track. This is due to Vice Chairman, President and CEO Tom Garfinkel. Miami Dolphins The managing partners for Hard Rock Stadium and Formula One Miami Grand Prix are: SB Nation Before last year's race.
“I mean, I actually drove the truck a few days ago. I drove one of our wide receivers around the truck. Garfinkel explained last May. “I did three laps and there's one corner. I can't understand. And I was talking [Juan Pablo] Because when Montoya drove a truck in his first year, he loves trucks. He's like that.”[i]The T is one of my favourite trucks I've ever driven. It's really challenging. ”
“That's why I think so [the drivers] Because it's challenging. ”
Steiner experienced the Miami circuit a few weeks ago during a trip to Hard Rock Stadium.
“I went around the racetrack. I never drove. It was a very fast car and a McLaren with an instructor. So I'm preparing to take part in the Grand Prix this year as an ambassador. As the 21st car, you know,” Steiner joked. “I'm really looking forward to the race at the beginning of May.”
Guenther Steiner in the 2025 F1 season
Last year's Miami Grand Prix was an attractive highlight of the season. As Norris scored his first victory, Ferrari took two other spots on the podium with Carlos Senn Jr. and Charles Leclair.
Norris was unable to track Max Verstappen due to the driver's championship, but McLaren locked out Ferrari with just 14 points in the constructor's title.
The 2025 season appears to be a season filled with fascinating storylines, both with Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari, potential battles for the title in both the constructors' championship and drivers' races, and with many rookies taking part in the grid.
So Steiner is looking forward to winning several different races this year, including one of the new drivers to join the grid.
“I think there will be a variety of winners this year, and I'm pretty sure about that,” Steiner began. “I think there will be a variety of winners this year.
“Has anyone won by a rookie? You know, that's difficult, but it's not impossible.”
However, other things that the team needs to balance compete in 2025 and prepare for 2026. Next year, Formula 1 will look very different when Cadillac's 11th team joins the grid, as well as new technical regulations come into effect. The team can start working on the 2026 Challenger from the new calendar year, and Steiner expects many teams to shift their focus to 2026 before the summer.
“I spoke to people who actually do this in Formula 1. SB Nation. “Even if it develops until May of the '25 Car, we will still bring parts until mid-year this year. Because it's obviously time-consuming because you have to make the parts after you've developed it.
“So I don't think there will be much development on the '25 cars in the beginning of June after May. Someone may be fighting for the World Championship, but you obviously decide if the fight is approaching,[h]Yes, I need to go a little longer [with developing the 2025 car] You win this championship.
“But I think everyone is planning now, I'll say in June we're 95% or 97% [the] '26 car. ”
Now Steiner's ultimate question.
Who will win the title in 2025?
“I'll look at the four teams again and close,” Steiner begins when asked about the 2025 title fight.
“I think last year was very close, but my favourites are Ferrari and McLaren, because at the end of last year they were very strong and I think they understood what the cars need to be faster, so I think they'll become my favorite,” Steiner continued.
He then focused on driver pairing for a while.
“[McLaren and Ferrari] Pair the driver. We have both experienced drivers from both Mercedes and Red Bull. They each have a rookie. That is, Liam [Lawson] He's not a real rookie, but he's not having a perfect season,” Steiner added. “But that's going to be difficult because newcomers are newcomers, even newcomers. He still needs to learn a lot.
This is an area where Steiner has a lot of experience. While at Haas, the team turned to a pair of rookie drivers, Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher.
That didn't work as Haas couldn't score a single point that season.
Who do you think will be on the top of Steiner? Tifosi might want to look away.
“So I feel that the two strongest teams are Ferrari and McLaren. I think they did a good job last year so we need to pick two McLarens. I think they were really good at the end of the season.”
Check if Steiner is correct immediately.
