The Wall Street Journal reported:
President Trump plans to sign an executive order for the first time to make English the official language of the United States, according to White House officials.
Over its nearly 250 years of history, the United States has no Japanese language at the federal level. Hundreds of languages are spoken in the United States. This is a byproduct of the country's long history of taking over immigrants from all over the world.
The executive order is necessary to withdraw the federal mandate issued by President Bill Clinton, and to provide language support to institutions and other federal fund recipients to English speakers, officials said.
According to a White House summary of orders viewed by the Wall Street Journal, agents can provide documents and services in languages other than English. The order summed up the question that the goal of making English a Japanese language is to promote unity, establish government efficiency and provide a pathway to citizen engagement.
