JD Vance delivers heartfelt remarks about Pope Francis despite past political differences

Vice President JD Vance I made a generous statement Of Pope Francis during his National Catholic Prayer Breakfast on Friday despite past criticism of the Pope's past Trump administration.

Francis previously expressed disapproval of President Donald Trump's immigration policy. I'm saying Deportation”[damage] The dignity of “immigrants”[place] Vance reaffirmed his attitude towards immigration, but he also emphasized his respect for Francis and the Catholic Church, particularly as the Pope endures numerous health complications.

“I believe that the Pope is basically someone who cares about Christian herds under his leadership.”

“I'm not counselling you, but as Christians, I don't think it's good to always fight each other in every controversy in the Church,” Vance said. “We need to play this kind of thing and develop our faith as much as we can, under the direction of our faith, and under the direction of our spiritual leaders, but we should not hold onto the standards of social media influencers because this is not the case.”

Vance made it clear that there are political differences in the faith, but it is more important to remain united as a Catholic.

“As we probably saw openly, the Holy Father, Pope Francis, criticizes some of our policies regarding immigration,” Vance said. “Again, my goal here is not to file a lawsuit with him about who is right or who is wrong.”

“I don't think it's in our greatest interest to treat our faith religious leaders as merely another social media influencer,” Vance continued. “And frankly, I think it goes both ways. If I'm so bold, I think it's mandatory for our religious leaders to recognize that it's not my intentions and that even if a particular declaration is intended for consumption in the social media era, it's obliged to our religious leaders to stick to every word they say.”

Rather than defending all the statements and all conflicts in which the Pope is involved, Vance argued that Francis was more concerned with his church and the health of Catholics under his leadership.

“I think some of our media, our social media influencers, and even our fellow Catholics, are trying to take our Holy Father into all the culture wars in American politics.”

“But every day I hear of Pope Francis' illness, so I say prayers for the Holy Father,” Vance said. “Yes, because I was surprised when he criticized our immigration policy the way he has… I believe that the Pope is someone who cares about Christian flocks under his leadership, and he is someone who cares about the spiritual direction of faith.”

Vance shows a more charitable understanding of the Pope and his role, reminding those who may oppose him to pray for him, especially as Francis' health is at risk.

“And every day, I have prayed for my Holy Father, so we pray for his health, and we present comfort as he deals with what appears to be a rather serious health crisis,” Vance added. “And yes, I think our media, our social media influencers, and even some of our fellow Catholics, are trying to take our Holy Father into the battle of all culture wars in American politics.
