Washington DC- Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan took a swipe in the New York Times and accused him of not efficiently representing the country's ideological “left.”
Speaking to restore confidence in the news summit with Semafor innovation, Hasan was asked Thursday if she wanted to expand the scope of Zeteo, a startup news brand that launched last year after leaving MSNBC.
“I could never have hired a bunch of Trump Republicans? “When we're talking about diversity of perspectives, what's not going well is, you know, we're obsessed with getting the Magazine perspective out there. The New York Times sends 100 Iowa journalists to talk to Trump voters, but of course, what's left?”
Mehdi Hasan quits MSNBC after show cancellation and wants more freedom in the busy news cycle
“I guess it's crazy that it's three cycles now. The New York Times doesn't have a columnist that Bernie Sanders supports,” he continued. “I mean Jamel Booy, but there's no actual proper “Bernie Bro” on the New York Times page. Where is the ideological diversity on the left? ”
The New York Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Fox News Digital.

The progressive media personality continued to promote his subsack and his own employment practices on YouTube-based news platform Zeteo.
“So for me, I wanted to have a voice from the left. Hasan said.
“We have John Harwood, who is kind of mainstream liberal ex-CNN and has an ex-CNBC who writes very sympathetic. [about the] The Democrats are very good. I'm a huge John fan. So he was one of my first recruits. I am very proud that he has joined Zeteo. There is also Naomi Klein. Naomi Klein is not seen in the vein. There is Owen Jones in the UK. [British Prime Minister] Kiel Starmer has seen him as the left traitor, he continued. “So we have a wide range of views to the left, center, left, liberal left, but the things I've never worked for before are not full of conservatives. I'm not going to start a media company and say, 'Come in, conservative!” ”

Hasan left MSNBC in January 2024 following the cancellation of his show a few weeks ago. He was a sharp critic of Israel's response to the October 7 attack on Hamas sterolists and the ongoing war in Gaza, and also condemned Hamas' attack itself.
Critics accused one of the network's most prominent Muslim voices of rigidity since October 7th. He said the Peacock show was cancelled after the weekend. However, according to Grabien's transcript, the network rarely used him as he only appeared on air outside of his program.
