In an exciting development, Christopher Bedford, senior editor of politics at Blaze News, became the first new media reporter allowed to the White House press pool.
And he can now dispel the story of Elon Musk as “in charge.”
“Elon Musk sat along the outside wall. He wasn't sitting at the table in the main cabinet. He's not a member of the cabinet or someone at the cabinet level. There are a lot of people along his back,” Bedford tells Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson about “Tonight's Blaze News.”
“And when he was called to the president, he called him “Commander” in his remarks. When asked to answer specific questions to what he was working on, he was advised, then he gave the answers,” he continued.

“So, like many stories and many reporters, this is the story that reporters walked together. They decided that Elon Musk was in charge of this cabinet meeting, not in the seating, nor in the way he responded, nor in the way he answered the questions,” explains Bedford.
Although Musk was clearly not “in charge”, he provided Bedford with the answer to one of his questions.
He asked Musk about the emails Doge sent to all government officials. This asked workers to list only five things they accomplished the previous week.
“So far, about half of government officials appear to have responded to requests for what they've been doing last week. Is there a timeline for the next move for those fired? When will Americans see the outcome?” he asked.
“To be clear, I think the email was probably misinterpreted as a performance review, but it was actually a Pulse Check review,” Musk replied. “If you have a pulse and two neurons, you can reply to the email. I don't think this is a high bar,” he continued, adding, “anyone can achieve this.”
