A New Jersey man faces first-degree murder charges in the death of his girlfriend, whose body was found in a fridge abandoned in Woods, New Jersey last year.
Christopher Blevins, 45, of Runnemede, was arrested on a San Diego beach on January 13th after a trip to Mexico.
He was charged with the murder of 50-year-old Laura Hughes and handed over to New Jersey.
The murder charge lies above the charges filed in Cape May County on Jan. 3, but Blevins is still on the run. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.
Previous relationships revealed that Hughes, the mother of two daughters, ages 18 and 13, passed away on December 22 in a refrigerator in Bell Plain State Forest, Cape May County.
Police found themselves wrapped in sleeping bags, carpeted and wrapped in a fridge tied with blue ratchet straps, according to the affidavit.
They released photos that recreate a unique tattoo on their body before identifying her as Hughes.
Cornell Alston, the father of his daughter, was informed on December 30 that the body had been identified as Hughes. According to gofundme For Hughes' family.
Officers say Blevins fled to Mexico after dumping Hughes' body in a woods refrigerator in July.
His green pickup truck was seen in a fridge-shaped object on his back in late July, police said.
Media reports say the two had a history of domestic violence.

According to the affidavit, Blevins camped in Mexico for several weeks before telling Mexico City authorities on August 27 that he fled the United States after “panicing” after something violent happened in Runnemede, indicating that he may have killed someone in the bar fight.
It is not clear what happened between him talking to Mexican authorities and when he was greeted at Ocean Beach near San Diego, when officers spot him, and another man kicked the sand with flames on the beach. San Diego's NBC affiliate reported.
Blevins gave them fake IDs and was later arrested, the report said, but officers later came across a criminal warrant in the murder.
