A federal judge extended a temporary injunction Friday blocking the Trump administration from withholding federal funds from agencies that provide gender-affirming care to transgender youth.
US District Court Judge Lauren King ruled That President Trump Presidential Order It violates the fifth amendment of the Constitution. This gives equal protection under the law.
King said Trump's existing orders would “prevent federally funded healthcare providers from providing the necessary healthcare to transgender youth who are not entirely affiliated with gender identity.”
“For example, cisgender teens were able to obtain adolescent blockers from such providers as an element of cancer treatment, but transgender teens with the same cancer treatment plan could not,” she wrote in the ruling.
Colorado, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington, each led by Democratic lawyer generals, filed lawsuits against the Republican administration, attempting to dismantle the threat to cross-gender youth health care.
More than 80 House Democrats also wrote to Trump last month, urging him to revoke one of the executive orders that was targeted for the King's ruling, claiming violations.
When the president attempts to enforce a ban that prevents transgender soldiers from serving in the military, their collective efforts arise as he sought to prevent his enforcement force from using his enforcement force to remove diversity, equity and inclusion employment practices from federal agencies and sectors.
