Zelensky Turned Down Two Earlier Opportunities to Sign Minerals Deal with U.S.; Dust-Up with Trump Was Third Chance

On Friday, when he appeared on FNC's “Ingraham's Angle,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent revealed that Ukrainian President Voldy Zelensky had declined two previous opportunities to sign the proposed mineral trade with the United States.

According to Bescent, Zelensky was given the chance once in Kiev in Munich along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Dust with President Donald Trump on Friday was his third chance.

“[I] I know there will be a scheduled economic meeting with President Zelensky a few weeks in advance,” host Laura Ingraham said. “And tell me about his arrival and punctuality or lack of it, and he seemed a little sleepy during the event.”

“Yes, Laura, I thought it was important, so I went all the way to Kiev,” replied Bescent. “President Trump sent me there again. We should have been meant to bring the Ukrainian people closer to the US. People send strong signals to the Russian leaders we had. Now we share economic benefits, but we also have strong signals to the American people that taxes actually work. Instead, President Zelenskyy and I held a very tough 45-minute meeting at a very large decibel level. And I told him. , President, the purpose of this is to show the Russians that there is no sunlight between us. And at the end of the meeting, he said, well, I have not signed this, I said, I told him, I told him, I told him, what do you want to do to tell the press? He said, I said, I don't want to go out and show the Russians that there is sunlight between us. And he said, well, I'm going to go out and say that I'll sign it in Munich.”

“Then he arrived in Munich and met Vice President Vance and Secretary Rubio. “So, in the end, we were supposed to sign today. It should be a great day and this is one of the biggest goals in diplomatic history.”
