An investigation is underway in Arizona after a massive crash on Interstate 10 killed at least six people and more than a dozen injuries.
Just before 1pm local time on Saturday, the Troopers responded to an I-10 eastbound area near Milepost 89 west of Tonopa due to a crash involving multiple tractor trailers and passenger cars, according to information provided by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Some vehicles sparked fires after crashing, officials said.
Officials initially said four people had died, but the number was raised to six late Saturday evening.
Additionally, 13 people were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.
The westbound lanes were closed but were reopened.
However, the eastbound lanes remain closed and there is currently no estimated time for reopening.
The Phoenix National Weather Service office had issued several dust storm warnings in the area around the time of the crash, but it is currently unknown whether that led to it.
Authorities said more information will be provided on Sunday.
