Byron Donalds points to Trump endorsement while addressing Casey DeSantis rivaling campaign rumors

R-FLA Rep. Byron Donald took the time Sunday to address rumors that first lady Casey DeSantis could throw a hat at the governor's race in a opposing bid to take over her husband when his term ends in 2027.

“I remember campaigning for then-congressman DeSantis in 2018, backed by Donald Trump. That worked well for our state,” Donald spoke with Maria Bartilomo, dedicated to Fox News' “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“I'm truly honored to have moved in 2025, 2026 and have the same support from President Trump. He has a history of good choices. I think his pick has always worked well for the state of the Sun. I'm pleased with President Trump's support,” he added.

Trump-backed lawmakers announced plans to run for governor of Florida next year in an interview on Fox News “Honity” last Tuesday night. [and] Many thoughts with my family and my friends. ”

“Shawn, we're in great condition,” Donald said at the time. “I arrived in Florida when I was 17, and I only had a trunk full of clothes from the Greyhound bus, and for the rest of my time in Florida I built a family and career.

Trump says if the House member runs for governor of Florida, he will “full support” him.

Last Monday, Gov. Ron DeSantis refused to support him at last week's race. His wife Casey has yet to make a formal announcement despite hints that she will be able to participate in the race at some point.

Donald said he will continue to “focus on Floridians” and that he will pay attention to key challengers after they officially enter the race.

“We'll focus on ideas to move our state to the next level,” he added.
