Five people were injured in Franklinton, Louisiana after being shot at a Mardi Gras parade, police said.
The suspect, 18-year-old Jamerian Anders, was arrested on five counts of attempted first-degree murder following the shooting, Franklinton police said in a press release. Police said additional arrests are likely.
The incident occurred near the parade route around 7pm. Police described it as a gang-related shooting.

Deputies of the Franklinton police officers and Washington Parish Sheriff's deputies rushed to the victims and provided emergency medical assistance until paramedics arrived and were taken to hospital.
Three of the victims remain in the hospital. One is in a dangerous state, and two are stable but protected. The remaining two have been released.
Anders was arrested at 11:40pm after police said he made a voluntary statement during a question involving him.

The incident is under investigation and police are continuing to search for more suspects.
No possible motivations have been announced by law enforcement.

In another incident earlier that day, police arrested two young men who were found to carry firearms along a parade route within the school zone.
Additionally, previous reports of gunshots led police to those armed with AR-15-style rifles.
