Power outage at BWI airport triggers massive flight delays, diverted flights 

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport suspended security screenings as it experienced a blackout Monday morning, narrated inbound flight traffic and crews worked furiously to restore normal operations.

In a Twitter update, BWI wrote that affected areas, including the airport's main terminal and hourly parking garage, lost power around 8:20am.

Baltimore's gas and electricity said Wbal TV A “customer-owned” electrical wire fell over in the airport area.

By 9:30, the airport said “many inbound flights” had been repurposed and advised travelers to check with the airline for additional information.

After a while, security screening resumed normal operations at checkpoints A and B, but some airlines were using Airstars to drain passengers.

“The power is slowly restoring in the entire main terminal.” Bwi wrote about x.

BWI Airport is located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore and about 30 miles northeast of Washington, DC.
