Is there a name for the surprising quarterback who will make it to the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft?
Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart has become the one who keeps his eye on chasing the NFL combine in Indianapolis last week. From athletics to ESPN to USA Today, he praises his show, showing that he could be the first round pick.
USA TODAY Ranking Dirt, a 21-year-old QB from Caysville, Utah, was the second-best quarterback in the combine behind Missouri product Brady Cook last week.
Athletic It has been reported Two teams feel that “strong” darts will appear in the “top half” of the first round.
And that didn't stop there either.
ESPN's Field Yates sang praise in a recent edition of ESPN's “Sports Center.” We explained why Dart sneaks into the first round of scheduled events that include quarterback Come Ward (Miami) and Chedure Sanders (Colorado).
“I think it's Ole Miss' Jackson Dirt that broke Eli Manning's school record in this past season.” Yates said. “He has a lot of experience. He started his college career at USC, finished with Ole Miss and played a great game that closed his college career against Duke in a bowl game. Good athlete, he can run as well. That would be a transition, as the offense he played with Ole Miss doesn't look like most NFL crime at all.
“That being said, if you combine athleticism and accuracy, it's all said and by the time it's done, I think he could sneak into the first round. I've made him 21st overall for the Pittsburgh Steelers in my recent mock draft.”
Dirt came out of a strong 2024 season and led the SEC for 4,729 yards, throwing 29 touchdown passes as Ole Miss got 10-3.

QB surpassed Manning's all-time pass record, which has been on the 21 years.
Manning held the record for 10,199 yards, but Dirt finished his three years in the Rebels with 10,617 passing yards in his Ole Miss career.
