A South Carolina man was shot dead after accidentally departing a shotgun booby trap last Monday, and is said to have been built by his family.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, 34-year-old Jordan Dove was seriously injured after being hit by a shotgun explosion after arriving at his imprisoned uncle's vacant home in St. Matthews, SC.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, but ultimately succumbed to injuries late Monday, according to the sheriff's office.
“At the time, the residence was thought to have been locked up by Booby,” the sheriff's office said in a statement.
“As the deputies slowly entered the house, a boundary was set around the residence, where everyone was about to enter, they came across a shotgun equipped in the back door. Further sweep of the residence showed the front door was barricaded and closed.

The Sheriff's Office added Thursday that there was no additional information following the conclusion of the investigation, but assured that there was no current threat to the public.
