Davante Adams' biggest fans couldn't spend time where the star receiver should play next.
Shortly before the Jets officially cut Adams, 32, on Tuesday amid the buzz of an impending move, fans of six-time Pro Bowlers flooded his Instagram pages with suggestions about his future NFL destination.
“Back back to Green Bay,” one user said of the Packers. There, Adams caught eight seasons of pass from BFF and fellow former Jet Aaron Rodgers.
“Go home, we'll win the Super Bowl you need.” Another pitch in the comment Posted on March 2nd.
Adams began his career with the Packers in 2014 after being selected 53rd from Fresno State.
He was traded for the Raiders after the 2021 season and linked with former college quarterback Derek Kerr.
Las Vegas has undergone many changes following Adams' arrival, including the release of Carr in February 2023 and the firing of manager Josh McDaniels midway through the 2023 season.
For some time, Adams was rumoured to be unhappy with the Las Vegas franchise, but had not moved to the Jets until October 2024, paving the way for a hype reunion with Rogers.
That tandem failed to live up to expectations, and the Jets finished the year 5-12 and missed the playoffs.
Adams caught 67 for 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games in New York.
He decided to cut Adams on Tuesday after failing to find a trading partner in a new era under coach Aaron Glenn and GM coach Darren Moogie.
Cap space can save a little $29.8 million.
Some Adams fans are looking for a second run in Green Bay where Rodgers' successor Jordan Love led the Packers to the playoffs over the past two seasons, while others are fishing for different candidates for postseason candidates.
“Come on the Chargers guy!” cried the fans.
“Davante please come to Buffalo,” another posted.
The charger and bill are currently quarterbacked by Justin Herbert and Governance League MVP Josh Allen, respectively.
It is still unknown if the next chapter of Adams will include Rodgers.
The Jets confirmed in February that they will move out of Rodgers after two seasons.
The veteran quarterback attracted attention from the Giants after failing to track down Matthew Stafford.
Rodgers landed in New York in 2023 after 18 seasons in Green Bay.
