President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appears to have been keen to repair relations with President Donald Trump and repair what is smooth following the tragic meeting at the White House on Friday.
In a long post on social media on Tuesday, the Ukrainian president showed he was ready for peace and gratitude for America's longstanding support, contrary to Trump's repeated characterization.
“Our meeting in Washington on Friday at the White House didn't go as far as it should have been.”
I wrote it Zelenskyy. “It's a shame that it happened like this. It's time to get things right. I hope that future cooperation and communication will be constructive.”
Zelenskyy traveled to Washington, DC last week to finalise a general economic agreement on mineral extraction. Zelenskyy joined Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and several Cabinet officials prior to the planned signing of the contract, and attended for a press conference in the oval office, which did not work.
Towards the end of almost 50 minutes
MeetingZelenskyy had questioned the value of diplomacy and the possibility of a ceasefire with the Russians without security guarantees previously not included in the “nothing works” contract. Trump and Vance caucused the Ukrainian president against his perceived attempts to “trust” the deal and surge future peace talks.
Following the subsequent screams, Zelenskyy reportedly was told to leave the White House before signing the contract.
“It's amazing how it comes through emotions, and President Zelensky has determined that if America is involved he is not ready for peace,” Trump said.
I said in a statement on Friday. “He downplayed the United States in his precious oval office. He can come back when peace is ready.”
“Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiation table as soon as possible.”
Treasury Secretary Scott Becent, who attended the fierce exchange, showed that the economic agreement, which had multiple opportunities for Ukrainians to close over the weekend, was effectively dead in water, stressing that “it is impossible to enter into an economic contract without a peace agreement.”
Zelenskyy exacerbated the issue on Sunday by suggesting that the contract to end the war between Kyiv and Moscow is “still very, very far away” and that aid from the US is certain.
The next day, Trump proved that Zelenki's certainty was unfounded and ordered a pause on all military aid sent to Ukraine. write“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not hold it for much longer!”
The prospect of losing military aid seems to have encouraged a change in Zelensky's heart.
“I want to repeat Ukraine's commitment to peace,” Zelensky wrote Tuesday. “None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiation table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. No one wants peace than the Ukrainians.
The Ukrainian president has raised the possibility of a “first stage” in the peace process, namely the release of prisoners and the release of naval and air ceasefires with Russia. He also thanked “how much America did to help Ukraine maintain sovereignty and independence,” and chose the first Trump administration.

Zelenskyy further stated that “Ukraine is ready to sign in a convenient format anytime.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (Rs.C.), a longtime defender of Zelenskyy, has seen support slip along following Friday's exchange. I wrote it“A better day has arrived.”
