President Trump taunts Elizabeth Warren during speech: ‘Pocahontas says yes’

President Trump brutally squeezed Sen. Elizabeth Warren to downplay Massachusetts Democrats by their favorite “Pocahontas” nickname during his speech to a congressional joint session Tuesday night.

Trump came after Warren (D-Mass.) urged applause after laughing at Democrats for wanting to continue supporting Ukraine with military aid in the war with Russia for the next five years. Even if the president ridiculed her, she continued to do so.

“The United States has sent hundreds of millions of dollars to help Ukraine defend,” Trump complained in his speech, eliciting rare applause from Democrats.

“You want to continue that for another five years,” Trump shot before choosing Warren. “Pocahontas says yes.”

Warren clapped enthusiastically, and despite Trump's broadside he picked up the pace of applause with a laugh in her face.

Trump has branded Warren “Pocahontas” for many years, hinting at her controversial claims that she has a partial Native American legacy in her remarks to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School, institutions she taught in the 1980s and 1990s.

She was listed as Native American in the undergraduate's National Law School Directory. Boston Glovesreported on the scandal in 2012.

The Massachusetts Senator has long denied using her claims of partial Native American heritage to promote her career.

During the 2020 campaign cycle, she revealed that DNA testing showed that “the majority of individual ancestors are Europeans” but that she was an heir to “minor Native American ancestors” dating back to six to ten generations.

Trump and the Republicans made her a pillar by citing such distant connections.

Warren was a solid supporter of Ukraine. Because Kiev is trying to dodge brutal Russian invaders in an unprovoked war.

“2,000 people are killed every week. More than that, Trump added a few moments after Warren. “They are Russian youths. They are Ukrainian youths. They're not Americans, but I want to stop it.”

Trump ordered a pause on all US military aid to Ukraine the day before his speech to Congress.

The president began falling into a European alliance last year to spend more on Russian fossil fuels than aid to war-torn Ukraine.

He also praised Ukrainian President Vokrainian Voldimir Zelensky for writing to him in Trump's words, “Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiation table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer.”

“No one wants peace more than Ukrainians. We really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence,” President Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader was revealed to Trump via X on Tuesday, following the tension that sparked in the wake of an explosion between two men in an oval office last Friday.

Vice President JD Vance kicked out Zelensky during that meeting for not being more grateful for American aid.

Trump also claimed in his speech that it serves as a state of union speech, despite being basically not alone in the technical terms – he “received a strong signal” from the Russians that he was “ready for peace.”
