Cryptocurrency Platform Ripple is launching a nonprofit organization focused on educating Americans about the crypto world.
Stu Aldeoty, president of NCA, Ripple's Chief Legal Officer, said the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA) aims to provide educational tools and resources on cryptography, sharing stories from crypto users, and providing cryptographic data and statistics.
“We believe that cryptography is more accessible to everyday Americans and that it's important to classify encryption,” Aldellory told Hill. “There's a story about cryptography, it's complicated, it's nerds, it's cryptic siblings, etc.”
“Now I think Crypto is now more mainstream than ever, but there's a gap there,” he continued. “There's no place where people can go to amplify the voices of the 55 million Americans who know more about cryptography, are educated about it, and own and use it.”
The NCA website states, “What is a crypto? And “What is a wallet, why am I necessary?”
He also acknowledges the industry's troubled past with questions about avoiding crypto fraud and “crypto con artists, bankruptcies and people going to prison.”
Nonprofits are trying to distinguish them from other crypto organizations, such as Stand with Crypto and the Blockchain Association, emphasizing that they are not political or lobbying organizations and do not represent crypto companies or protocols.
“We are not only politically agnostic, but also agnostic by the protocol and the company,” Alderoby said. “We are here to amplify the everyday voices of Americans who own and use cryptography, and become a source of information and education for Crypto.”
“I think more people in the US will be encrypted as the US is leaning towards becoming a more crypto nation,” he added.
Crypto has been an important priority for President Trump since taking office. Despite once dismissing cryptography as a “fraud,” Trump began accepting the industry during his 2024 campaign.
He has since become a supporter of the voice of code, naming venture capitalist David Sack his Cryptocrat, his Artificial Intelligence (AI) Emperor, and leaves it up to him by developing the legal framework for the industry.
On Sunday, Trump announced plans to set up crypto strategic sanctuaries such as XRP, Solana, Cardano, Bitcoin and Ethereum. XRP is a Ripple token.
Trump's strategic reserves have received a complex response from the crypto world. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has promoted the idea and said he appreciated the president's “vision for the industry's government digital asset reserve.”
But others have pushed back the idea of holding non-Bitcoin tokens. Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder of Crypto Exchange Gemini, claimed on Monday that Bitcoin is the only digital asset suitable for strategic preparation.
