According to court documents, a man pretending to be an NBA player agent swallowed a gem stolen from Tiffany nearly $1 million.
Tiffany & Co, in Orlando, Florida, on February 26th, according to an arrest affidavit. It is said that he stole the store. The Houston Native reportedly told store employees that he was Sean. Sean was there to negotiate the sale as a representative of Orlando's magic basketball team.
Gilders were brought into the VIP room given the value of the jewelry sales discussed. Two pairs of diamond earrings and diamond rings were on the negotiation table, with a total selling price of $1,356,000.00.
However, before the transaction was completed, Guilder is said to have jumped out of his chair and tried to escape with the goods. Guilder struggled with the sliding doors in the store. The employee tried to stop the guilder, but the fake agent “push and pulls his arm violently,” causing visible injuries, court documents say.
Guilder dropped the diamond ring but managed to escape with the earrings. Police say he escaped from the store's entrance and left the mall.
“The man who met Guilder's description was seen entering the blue 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander with security cameras in the mall's parking lot,” CBS News Report. “They were able to follow the vehicle through public safety cameras and toll records. The Florida Highway Patrol was informed of the vehicle's production, model and license plate number.
“At a moment before 8pm local time on February 26th, the Highway Patrol pulled over a vehicle that matched the description of the traffic violation. The driver of the car was allegedly arrested for resisting an investigation and resisting a separate charge from the incident. Highway Patrol officials identified the driver as a guilder. The earring form and price of Tiffany & Co. was found on the floor of the vehicle.”
However, when Guilder was in custody, he swallowed some of the gems. The decision he regretted claimed that officers heard him say, “I should have thrown them out the window.”
The gem engulfed by the guilder is worth $769,500.
Upon entering prison, authorities claim that Guilder asked.
He will face a first-degree grand larceny and robbery with a mask. The robbery with a mask fee was attributed to the fact that Guilder was wearing a gauze nose bandage and a hat at the time of the incident.
Guilder is currently being held at the Orange County Jail, police told CBS News.
