President Trump announced Friday that he is pushing for negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran.
The commander said he fired a letter to the leaders of the Islamic Republic on Thursday, hoping that Tehran would want to haveh out it.
“It's much better for Iran, so I hope you'll negotiate,” Trump told Fox Business Network in an interview.
“They want to get that letter. Another option is that they can't let go of another nuclear weapon, so they have to do something.”
The letter reportedly was addressed to Iran's highest leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“There are two ways to deal with Iran: military, or you make a deal,” Trump added. “I prefer to make a deal because I'm not trying to hurt Iran. They're amazing people.”
After Trump said last month, he wants to make a deal with Iran, which hinders the development of nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, Trump withdrew from Iran's nuclear deal in 2018 during his first stint at the White House.
