Kansas City Chiefs fans’ cause of death revealed after backyard discovery

The cause of the death was revealed to three Kansas City Chiefs fans in January 2024, who were found dead in the backyard of a friend's house.

Forensic exams found that David Harrington, 37, Clayton McGeeney, 36, and Ricky Johnson, 38, “all died from combined fentanyl-cocaine toxicity,” according to court documents reviewed by Fox News Digital.

The documents reveal what officers met on the day they encountered a rental home, responding to the day they were convened in Kansas City, Missouri, and a group of longtime friends were celebrating the chief's victory a few days ago.

On Wednesday, Jordan Willis and Ivory J. Carson were charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of controlled substance, with the exception of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids of less than 35 grams. Each bill can have a maximum of 10 years.

Willis and Carson appeared in court on Thursday, taking part separately via video from prison, wearing orange jumpsuits Platte County, Missouri.

Willis's lawyer, John Piquerno, pleas for Willis's not guilty, and the judge entered into a plea for not guilty on behalf of Carson, who has no lawyer yet and has no plans to apply for a public defense counsel.

McGeeney's fiancee, April Mahoney, called authorities after discovering the trio's frozen bodies on January 9, 2024. Friends gathered at Willis rental property to play the Los Angeles Chargers on January 7, 2024 around 7pm.

According to court documents, Mahoney was worried that his fiancé would appear to have disappeared. I eventually went home and parked McGenney's Redford F-150 pickup outside the residence.

The repeated door knocks did not cause a response, leading Mahoney to climb through the basement window, the document revealed.

“They found an isolated deceased person on their back patio and called them police,” it says without specifying which bodies were first discovered.

Court documents point to the fact that all three victims were found to have died in the backyard of the house.

When police arrived at the detached house, Mahoney told authorities that his fiancé would drink cocaine and use it. She said McGeeney “will get low money” and Willis “usually supplies cocaine to his friends.”

Police wrote in court documents that they found a bag of “white powdered material” in the drawer on the top end table and a second bag of “white powdered material” above the entertainment center in the living room.

According to court documents, Willis told police on Jan. 9 that he believes McGinney, Harrington and Johnson left the house around Jan. 8. Picerno previously told Fox News Digital that his client fell asleep while four men were still awake and wandering around the house.

Two other unidentified witnesses attending the football watch party told police that they “drinked, smoked marijuana and used cocaine.” One eyewitness said he left “just before midnight” on January 8th, the document said.

Another witness said he saw a large plate of cocaine at Harrington's home, which he allegedly supplied, “Mr Willis is using by everyone.”

Court records also showed that after passing through “Blade Brown,” Carson supplied and sold Willis and the victims with cocaine, and his DNA was found in a bag of fentanyl.

The Kansas City Police Department said it had investigated the three deaths in the 14 months before the charges were filed.
