NBA news: Draymond Green makes bold claim about why Knicks star missed game

This week's Karl Anthony Towns missed the game, but it was revealed that he initially missed the game for “personal reasons.”

After rumors circulated, Jordyn Woods, a best friend of his town girlfriend, died of breast cancer.

The town returned to the team two days after funeral services, but Draymond Green apparently had heard another story about why the town was clearly missing.

The Knicks were hosting the Golden State Warriors, including former town teammate Jimmy Butler.

Green said he heard that town didn't want to play Butler.

“Some people would say that Jimmy was in the building and he didn't play. I don't know,” Green said on his podcast. “Jimmy comes to town and they say that Cat didn't play. You know him and Jimmy was having an infamous practice in Minnesota.”

The town took on Butler earlier this year when Butler was with the Miami Heat and dropped 44 points.

The town said it was “one of the moments when I had to be there for my family.” Greene wasn't aware of it until after the Warriors' 121-119 victory over Brooklyn on Thursday.

“That's a shame, I'm sorry I heard it. It's awful,” Green said. “But what I made was what I heard.

“But,” he added.

The Towns struggled to return to the lineup, scoring just 12 points, 13-3, from the Los Angeles floor. He's doubled his average this season.
