Kathy Hochul Issues State of Emergency as Fires Break Out in Long Island

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) issued an emergency after several brush fires were reported on Saturday in Long Island.

in post In X, Hochul revealed that New York State Guard helicopters “providing air support.” Hochul added that “multiple state agencies” are also supporting ground efforts.

“I'm in an emergency as Suffolk County fights a brush fire in Pine Valens,” wrote Hochul, adding that she spoke to Suffolk County's Edward Romain, “providing the necessary state resources.”

“The @nationalGuardny helicopters provide air support and multiple state agencies are on the ground.”
