MasterCard solved the issue as cardholders were unable to make online payments or purchases during the short Sunday morning period.
Hundreds of cardholders from the US, UK, Japan, Italy and Australia were among those who began reporting issues early on Sunday mornings, according to DownDetector, a website that provides a real-time overview of issues and outages.
MasterCard told Fox Business Digital that there are issues affecting some transactions, which have since been resolved.

“We've had a period of today where some Mastercard transactions have declined. The situation has been resolved and all systems are functioning normally,” Seth Eisen, Senior Vice President of Communications, told Fox Business Digital in an email.
