Suozzi slams Trump over Ukraine, says Putin shouldn't be awarded for 'awful things' Ukrainians have faced

Rep. Tom Suzzi (DN.Y.) denounced President Trump on Sunday in the war in Ukraine, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin should not be awarded “for all the terrible things that have happened to the people of Ukrainians.”

“Trump was wrong in the way he handled this. I want to give Brian Credit, as co-chair of the Ukraine Caucus, saying, “You can't reward a dictator.” …Putin is a dictator,” Szzi told CBS News' Margaret Brennan to “The Face of the People.”

“Putin has invaded. Zelensky is democratically elected. We cannot reward anyone responsible for the inviting, the inviting, the inviting, the rape for all the terrible things that have happened to the people of Ukrainians. We all need to stand up for the people of Ukrainians,” he added.

Zelensky, Trump and Vice President Vance recently held a tense, oval office meeting that sent shockwaves throughout Washington and the world. The conference featured cries and pointings that Ukrainian leaders and presidents were advocating for support for Ukraine.

After the meeting, Trump said on his true social platform that the Ukrainian president “is not ready for peace because he feels that our involvement is giving him a great advantage in negotiations when America is involved.” The mineral trade between the US and Ukraine, which is scheduled to be signed, was also postponed after the meeting.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in a recent interview that Zelensky had a total “fuss” about the deal.

“I'm really grateful that Zelensky has made a face over the past few days. He effectively apologized for all of that and he said, 'Oh, no, I want that deal after all.” Johnson said on John Catsimatidis's radio show “Cat's Round Table.”

Oka reached out to the White House for comments.
